I have been a minimalist for a number of years. Having less has allowed me to focus on the important things in life such as relationships, God, and family. Owning less has inspired me to be highly organized (easy to do when you own few possessions) and to treasure those things that I have without just letting them collect dust in a drawer. I know where everything is in my house and I can locate things quickly and easily. With fewer toys than most children, my 1-year-old daughter appreciates the things she does have and has even started cleaning up after herself and placing objects she has played with back where they belong. My family has saved quite a bit of money by not shopping and by being content with the things we already own. When we completely committed to becoming a minimalist family, we actually made money by selling things we no longer felt we needed or used. I am a strong believer that less is more. I spend a small amount of time cleaning my house everyday and can focus on other things. I feel lighter and less stressed. I would encourage all of you to do some research on minimalism. It truly does bring a sense of peace and serenity when you move your attention away from materialism.
