My Money Saving Tips

Hello!  I’m excited to share this blog post, because for the past year and a half my husband and I have been saving, investing, and have paid of all our debt except for our mortgage, which is in our near future!  I would like to let you all know that you don’t need to earn a ton of money to be financially successful.  Being frugal I found is the key to getting out of debt and to saving and making money.  My husband and I follow a wonderful financial guru named Dave Ramsey.  He is the reason why we are in the place we are in right now financially.  Don’t get me wrong, it has taken a LOT of dedication on our part, but the one thing Dave Ramsey always says that sticks with us is, “Live like no one else, so one day you can live like no one else!”  I would encourage you to go to Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University and to take his course like we did!  Here are some personal pointers on how to save money and to get out of debt:

  • cut up your credit cards and make a promise to buy only things you can afford
  • start budgeting (I have included a sample budget sheet in my ebook listed for sale on my website)
  • only shop twice a year for clothes when the seasons change
  • buy used cars and pay for them with cash
  • downsize and think about getting into a more affordable home
  • make a grocery list each week and stick to it
  • clip coupons
  • buy secondhand items instead of ones that are brand new
  • sell old possessions that aren’t being used on Craiglist or Ebay
  • let go of materialism and buy less
  • instead of purchasing books (including audiobooks and ebooks), check them out at a public library
  • love the things you already have instead of envying others for the more expensive things they have

Hope you enjoyed my money saving tips!  Post and share some of the ways you save and get ahead financially.  I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Blessings, Kimberly Burkel
